Doctors in New Zealand have said that patients are being denied access to multiple cancer drugs despite them being available on the public health system of neighbouring Australia. The New Zealand Cancer Control Agency (CCA), in its recent report, identified 24 blood cancer drugs unfunded for 42 indications in New Zealand, but available for free in Australia. The number of medications unavailable in New Zealand is now 36 after Pharmac, the New Zealand Public Health Agency that analyses cost-effectiveness, decided to fund six of them.
